South Africa’s Youngest Female Doctor Amongst 800+ Unemployed Doctors In South Africa

The 23-year-old, Dr Thakgalo Thibela made headlines in 2021 when she became SA’s youngest female Doctor after matriculating at the age of 15 in 2015 with seven distinctions.

Dr Thakgalo Thibela did a two-year internship at Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg before returning to Mpumalanga to do her community service.

Today Dr Thakgalo Thibela South Africa’s youngest female medical doctor has joined the 800+ unemployed Doctors in SA

At just 21 years old, she obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Wits University in 2020.

She’s now 24 years old and pleading for work. “I am willing and ready to serve anywhere in the country but that opportunity is not being afforded to me. I became a doctor because I wanted to help people and not being able to do that has been mentally taxing,” says Dr Thakgalo Thibela.
