The 63-year-old man who allegedly shot his wife appeared in Malamulele Magistrate Court

The 63-year-old man, Skhetho Daniel Maswanganyi arrested by the Police in Malamulele, Vhembe District in connection with the murder of his 55-year-old wife, Tsakani Joyce Maswanganyi has today appeared in the Malamulele Magistrate’s court.

Daniel reportedly shot dead Tsakani on Saturday, February 6, 2021, in the village of Mbhalati.

He was remanded until February 18, 2021, for an official request for bail and new police investigations.

Limpopo police said the suspect was arrested on 9 February 2021, in his hideout in an unoccupied house in the village of Tshimbupve, in the Vuwani police area, near Thohoyandou.

According to the police, there was a fight between the suspect and his second wife at approximately 7:30 p.m.

“The suspect then produced his registered firearm and fired at the deceased on a number of occasions.

“The police were called and, on arrival, the suspect had already fled the scene. The gun that was allegedly used in the killing was found and seized.

“Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the motive for the incident may be linked to domestic violence”, added Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.
