19 years old suspect arrested following attempted murder and robbery incident at Hosi Nwamitwa’s residence





The South African Police Services (SAPS) in Letsitele outside Tzaneen on Tuesday, 11th August 2020 arrested a 19-year-old suspect for attempted murder and robbery after he allegedly approached a Security Officer on duty at the residence of Hosi Nwamitwa II.

The suspect shot the Security Guard several times, before fleeing from the scene with the firearm belonging to the protection Officer. This incident happened while the community is still in shock after another Security Guard allegedly shot her Colleague at Xihoko Village which is about 21KM away from Hosi N’wamitwa residence.




Limpopo Police say, the incident happened within the early hours of Monday 10 August 2020. The Security Guard was allegedly approached by an unknown suspect and he apparently fired warning shots but the suspect resisted. Within the process, the suspect managed to urge hold of the firearm, shot him several times and fled from the scene with the victim’s firearm.

“The Police and Emergency Services were called and swiftly responded. The injured guard was transported to local hospital to receive medical treatment. The suspect was traced and arrested at Mbekwana Village. During the arrest, the police recovered the firearm and ammunition that were robbed.




“The suspect is predicted to seem in Nkowankowa magistrate’s court soon. Police investigations are still continuing”, added Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.
