Limpopo Health MEC sends condolences to the family of a guard allegedly shot by colleague at Xihoko Clinic





Limpopo Health MEC Dr. Phophi Ramathuba sends condolences to the family of a security officer who was allegedly shot by colleague while on duty.

The two officers, who were stationed at Nyavani Clinic at Xihoko outside Tzaneen. They reportedly had an argument on the 6th of August 2020 while at work. The other colleague allegedly produced her work pistol and shot her colleague multiple times before fleeing the scene.




The 49-year-old Security Official at Shihoko Clinic outside Tzaneen has been arrested. Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the people who heard the gunshots alerted the police, who found the female victim lying unconscious before she was rushed to the nearest hospital.

Mojapelo says the suspect was arrested at her boyfriend’s place and the gun that is believed to be the one used in the shooting was confiscated.




The officer was immediately rushed to Letaba Hospital. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to injuries today (08/08/2020). MEC Ramathuba says violence should never be a choice to settle disputes.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of this officer and that we channel our heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased. We might prefer to yet again invoke our community members to refrain from resorting to violent mechanisms as the way of settling quarrels and squabbles,” said MEC.
