LIMPOPO PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER LAUDS SWIFT ARREST OF SEVEN SUSPECTS FOR MOB JUSTICE RELATED MURDER IN TZANEEN

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has hailed the sterling work of the Tzaneen Detective Service in arresting seven suspects responsible for the brutal murder of a 29-year-old man at Thako Village on Saturday morning, 16 December 2023.

According to the preliminary information, police were alerted about a man who was being assaulted at a certain house by family members after they allegedly caught him stealing. They swiftly responded and upon arrival, the police found the severely wounded man lying on the ground and chained to a mango tree. Upon inspection, they also found that he had a deep open wound.

The victim was certified dead at the scene. He was identified as Machabe Machete residing at Moleketla village.

The seven suspects, aged between 35 and 42, consisting of three women and four men were arrested at the scene.They were charged with murder and will appear before Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 December 2023.

The Provincial Commissioner, once more issued a stern warning to the community not to take the law into their own hands but to report crime to the police. She also thanked the Tzaneen Detectives for their propmt reaction and meticulous investigation that led to the arrests of the suspects involved in the mob justice incident.
