Hugo Broos has returned home to his native country of Belgium. Bafana Bafana have since named a new coach for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers!
Broos has just flown back to his native country of Belgium. Sparking speculation of a potential shock resignation from Bafana Bafana.
To make matters worse, he was also absent during the national side’s COSAFA Cup. Not even making an appearance from the bench or sidelines.
The Belgian mentor returned to Belgium during their Cosafa Cup campaign, according to SoccerLaduma.
However, that’s not all. Broos confirmed that he will be staying in Belgium throughout the duration of Bafana’s AFCON qualifying campaign. This was confirmed on the same publication.
REPLACEMT NAMED FOR BAFANA’S AFCON QUALIFIERS
Meaning, he will be absent for the vital games against Libya and Morocco. Remember, South Africa just need to beat Libya to qualify. Now, they will have to achieve this feat without Broos.
Helman Mphalele will take charge of the qualifiers in his absence. This is not the first time that Broos has decided to leave the national side in the middle of a tournament. He was a No-show during their COSAFA Cup last year too.
Broos was a NO-show last year, a NO-show this year and he had a terrible run when he was in charge of the side earlier this year. Succumbing to a dismal 5-0 drubbing against the French and a dull goalless draw against Guinea.
