Eric Nkobani, popularly known as Penny Penny or Papa Penny is a household name in South Africa.

He is an international superstar that wear many hats, from husband to Mama Nomi, father to his 25 children, singer and a TV personality with his own Reality TV Show “Papa Penny Ahee” on DSTV Mzansi Magic. The Reality show is laughter creating show and is one of the most watched shows in South Africa.




Papa Penny is also famous for coming from a polygamous family where he is child number 68. You may be wondering like many other people out there on how it is possible, but the fat is, his father had 17 wives.

The Reality Show star was born in 1962 in Giyani, Limpopo Province, South Africa. The funny lad grew up doing odd jobbs to earn a living and he also worked in the most popular Tomato producer farm, ZZ2 in Bolobedu after his father died. Papa Penny story is one of hard work, zeal and perseverance.




The Legendary Shangaan Disco King has always had soft spot for the entertainment industry, which made him pursue his passion. He kick-started his career through music and dancing where he released his first album titled “Shaka Bundu” in 1994.

After the success of his music, he recently ventured into the most popular Reality Television show “Papa Penny Ahee”. This Reality show is a hit and it is the talk of the town, it keeps South Africans glued to their TV screens. Papa Penny Ahee was first aired in January 2017 and became a darling to many. The flamboyant Papa Penny revealed that he was surprised by the response from South African Audience.




Having come from a large family, Papa Penny has 25 children. In 2019, he welcomed his 25th son named after him, Penny Penny. The 25th son is the second child with his wife Mama Nomi as the couple already has a daughter together named Nomi.

Along the road, Papa Penny’s wife opened up about loosing her firstborn son, the 23 year-old committed suicide at Soshanguve Train Station.




Penny Penny is not a new name for most of his fans, his story is one of the humble beginnings to becoming a star in the world of entertainment. Today people across the board want to sit in their living rooms and enjoy some of his best TV Episodes after a long day.
