John Ngobeni, The Great Son Of The Soil From Mavele Village

John Ngobeni was a senior member of the Umkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association. He was born and bred in the dusty streets of Mavele Village under N’wamitwa Traditional Authority outside Tzaneen.




The great son of the soil first joined the ANC in 1977. He was instrumental in establishing MK units around N’wamitwa and surrounding areas while operating underground between October 1989 and June 1990.

Mr Ngobeni slipped out of the country and went to Mozambique, where he continued to fight for the liberation of South Africa. He later lived in Sierra Leone, where he completed his Matric before he proceeded to Cuba to study for a Degree in Chemical Engineering.




In November 2010, Mr J Ngobeni was awarded a Certificate in recognition for his selfless contribution to the struggle for the Liberation of South Africa. The Certificate was awarded by the True Worshipers Ministry’s head Pastor Schneider Mhlongo.

Mr J Ngobeni was able to survive the turbulent years of struggle to tell the tale today in the new Democratic South Africa. He warns people that nobody should claim to own the ANC.




He calls on members of the ruling party to be disciplined in order to carry forward the spirit of Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo, Chris Hani and many others.
