FOUR CHILDREN AMONG SIX PEOPLE KILLED IN LIMPOPO CRASH

According to the department, two sedans collided head-on along the R510 road next to Zanzuk farm on Monday evening.




Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety Violet Mathye reiterated her call on motorists to avoid reckless driving.

The MEC’s spokesperson, Dali Tshifhiwa, said the accident’s cause was still under police investigation.



“Six people, including children, from one car lost their lives, while two from the other car were seriously injured and taken to Lephalale Provincial Hospital,” he added.

The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has reiterated its commitment to the “EDWARD” campaign — Every Day Without A Road Death — urging motorists to prioritise safety and vigilance on the province’s roads.




Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a crash involving a cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicle and an articulated truck on Tuesday morning caused major traffic delays on the R40, near the University of Mpumalanga, between White River and Mbombela.

The CIT vehicle reportedly slammed into the back of the truck, resulting in the death of a passenger on the scene.



The driver and another passenger seated in the rear of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby medical facility.
