A 44-YEAR-OLD MBONENI RATSHITAKA WAS SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPING A FOUR YEAR OLD GIRL IN THOHOYANDOU

Justice finally served after 13 years when the accused was found in the act of raping a four year old girl in her parent’s home.




The mother of the victim left her children asleep in her home when she attended a church service at Tshisaulu village on the 26 May 2012 at about 23:50. She was called out of the church premises and met with her two children, who informed there was an incident that occurred at their home.

She rushed home and on arrival, the window burglar proof was damaged and the house was ransacked and the police at the scene with the suspect.



It was explained to her that the suspect was found in the act of raping her four year old girl. She was taken for medical treatment and it was confirmed that the victim was raped. A case of rape, malicious damage tonproperty and housebreaking with intent to commit crime was registered for further investigation by Detective Sergeant Regionald Mmbara of Thohoyandou FCS.

A 44 year old male suspect appeared in Sibasa Regional Court until the case was transferred to Polokwane High Court where he was found guilty as charged.




The accused, Mboneni Simon Ratshitaka aged 44 years old during the commission of crime was sentenced as follows :

Count 1 : Rape, Life imprisonment
Count 2 : Housebreaking with intent to commit an offence, three years in jail
Count 3 : Malicious damage to property, three years in jail.



Count 2 and 3 will run concurrently.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the arresting officers and the Investigator for ensuring that this rapist is totally removed from the society as a toddler was sexually assaulted.
