The acting Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Major General Samuel Manala has ordered the police to make use of the available resources to search for the suspects responsible for the brutal attack that resulted in the loss of life.
The South African Police Service in Namakgale under Mopani District were alerted to the shooting that took place at Makhushane Tribal office on Wednesday 25 September 2024 at about 22:00.
According to reports, police received a complaint from a member of the community situated next to the Tribal office gate reporting that they were under attack and rushed to the premises. Upon arrival they found the members of the community gathered and pointed out a lifeless body of a 56 year-old male victim lying on the ground.
Upon further inspection of the body, police discovered multiple gunshot wounds on the forehead, back and on his thighs. Police’s preliminary report at this stage indicated that the deceased was sitting with other members of the community outside the erected tent when they heard gunshots coming from the main road near the Tribal offices.
It appears that the unknown suspects started firing at the community members and a 56 year-old male victim was shot on the upper body Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Another community member, a 53 year-old male victim who was within the vicinity was also shot on the thighs.
It appears the suspects were using an unknown hatchback motor vehicle which was parked few meters away from the community members when they started firing shots at them.
Afterward, the unknown suspects drove away from the crime scene driving the same motor vehicle that could not be identified . The members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned to the scene and declared a 56 year-old male victim dead on their arrival.
A 53 year-old male victim was transported to a local hospital.
