RESIDENTS OF DZUMERI UP IN ARMS OVER ONGOING DISPUTE BETWEEN HOSI DZUMERI AND HOSI NGOVE

The community of Dzumeri has vowed to utilize Deputy President Paulus Mashatile’s upcoming oversight visit, in his role as Chairperson of the Task Team addressing water challenges across the country, to confront Limpopo Acting Premier Basikopo Makamu regarding his stance on the ongoing dispute between Hosi Dzumeri and Hosi Ngove.

It has been reported by our sister Publication Giyani View that on Friday, 06 September 2024, the Deputy President will visit Limpopo province to evaluate progress on intervention projects aimed at improving water services in Greater Giyani Local Municipality, accompanied by Minister of Water and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina, Deputy Ministers David Mahlobo and Isaac Seitlholo, Acting Premier Basikopo Makamu, Limpopo Provincial Executive Council members, and District and Local Mayors.

On Monday, September 2, 2024, Hosi Siyandhani sent a delegation to Polokwane in support of Dzumeri residents. A group of disgruntled community members from Dzumeri traveled to the Premier’s office in Polokwane to submit a petition to Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Constance Ramathuba, who was absent on a state business trip to China.

The acting Premier, Basikopo Makamu was expected to receive the petition but failed to do so, allegedly due to his involvement in the dispute between Hosi Wilson Divila Mabunda and Hosi Pheni Cyprian Mabunda.

The residents accused CoGHSTA MEC, Basikopo Makamu of avoiding them and having a conflict of interest due to his alleged connections with Hosi Pheni Cyprian Mabunda.

The Dzumeri community demands recognition of Hosi Divila Mabunda as chief, threatening a mass shutdown if the Premier fails to finalize the process. They also call for MEC Makamu’s removal from the process.

Our sister Publication, Giyani View has learned that MEC Basikopo Makamu’s established connections with Hosi Pheni Cyprian Mabunda, commonly known as Hosi Ngove of Mabunda Traditional Council have created a conflict of interest and compromised his ability to impartially facilitate the ongoing saga between the two brothers.

Giyani View was informed by one of the elderly women that she is 87 years old and during her childhood, Hosi Dzumeri was a Chief. “Divila Wilson Mabunda is the fourth chief of the Dzumeri Traditional Council”.

Our source said that Hosi Ngove and Hosi Dzumeri are both children of Nyavani. “Both of them are traditional leaders. Dzumeri must also be recognized”.

We have also learnt through our source that Hosi Pheni Ngove is using his office powers as Chairperson of Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders to undermine other Chiefs in the Mopani region.

Hosi Siyandhani was also denied his recognition certificate as a chief, but through the support of his community members and a spirited fight, he was awarded his recognition certificate in a ceremony in 2021.
