A 26-YEAR-OLD MAN WAS SHOT DEAD AT THENGWE MUTANGULA

Mutale police are investigating a case of murder after a 26-year-old man who is believed to be a local Pastor was shot dead at Thengwe Mutangula village on Wednesday 28 August 2024 at about 21:30.




Mutale police, while on duty, received information about a shooting incident at Thengwe Mutangula village.

When they arrived at the scene, a Toyota D4D bakkie was parked along the road, with the victim who is the alleged owner of the bakkie found lying on the ground with gunshot wound on his upper body.



Reportedly, the victim was traveling with his girlfriend and a group of men in the back of the bakkie when he received a call from the suspect requesting him to offer prayer for his sick grandmother.

Along the way, they met the suspect, who pulled out his firearm and ordered the victim to move towards the back seat, afterwards, he fired a shot at the victim.




After witnessing the event, a group of men that were at the back of the bakkie jumped out of the bakkie, and fled for their lives. They then reported the incident to the police.

Emergency personnel certified the victim dead at the scene.



The motive behind the shooting is unknown at this stage, while police investigations are currently underway. Meanwhile, the police have opened a murder case.
