The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded members of the Provincial Tracking Team together with Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit for remarkable breakthrough in the apprehension of a 25 year-old male alleged suspect in the murder of a 31 year-old woman, Eunice Masemola.
The information received from police spokesperson Colonel Malesela indicate that the deceased was reported missing after she departed home on Sunday 28 January 2024 at Thornhill Estate and her lifeless body was later found with multiple gunshot wounds the same evening at Rita gravel road under Sebayeng policing area.
A case of murder was opened at Sebayeng SAPS and later transferred to the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit for further investigations.
Through intensive intelligence driven investigations, police managed to identify the main suspect who was traced and nabbed while at his residence in Botlokwa on Wednesday night, 06 March 2024.
Following this apprehension, the suspect led the police to a residential area at Dalmada Plots outside Polokwane and upon arrival, found a 33 year-old male ,who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm we believe it was utilized to commit the murder.
The suspect was immediately arrested on the spot for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Preliminary investigations syggested that a 25 year-old suspect was already paid a substantial amount of cash prior to his arrest.
In addition, police managed to seize a VW Polo motor vehicle believed to have been used to commit the crime.
A 25 year-old suspect is expected to appear before Mankweng Magistrate court on Friday 08 March 2024 facing charges of premaditated murder defeating the ends of justice, money laundering, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
A 33 year-old suspect will appear at Polokwane Magistrate court for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunitoon.
Police investigations are continuing.
