A 50-YEAR-OLD NAMAKGALE MAN EXPECTED IN COURT FOR RAPE OF A MINOR CHILD

NAMAKGALE : The 50 year old man arrested by Police in Namakgale, Mopani District for raping a girl child aged 04 will appear before Namakgale Magistrate on Monday 07 August 2023.

The Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says It is alleged that the victim’s mother who was home let the child on Thursday 2023-08-03 at about 13:30 to go and play with her friends on the streets.

After some time, she went to check on her and she was told that, her daughter left with “an old man.”

She then immediately started to search for her daughter and it appears she met her on the streets later at about 15:30.

It is further alleged that when questioning the child she found out that the said “old man” raped her daughter in the local bushes and thereafter, allegedly gave her some money.

Community members after learning about the ordeal, joined her to search for the suspect. The described man was found by Community who immediately notified Police.

Police reacted swiftly and the suspect aged 50 was arrested for rape. The victim was then taken to local hospital for medical treatment.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the incident and reiterated the call for parents to look after their children .

She further commended the Community for their participation in ensuring that the suspect is apprehended.

The suspect will appear before Namakgale Magistrate Court on Monday, 07 August 2023.

Police investigations are still continuing.
