A 34-Year-Old Teacher Killed In A Car Crash

Two people died in a car crash on the R81 near the village of Bode, on the outskirts of Giyani on Saturday.

Giyani police said they opened an investigation following a culpable homicide, two people were killed and three others injured.

Two people were reported dead on the scene and three were transported to Nkhensani hospital for medical care, police said.

It is alleged that the driver was travelling from N’wamankena Village to Bode Village when he lost control of the vehicle and overturned several times.

The driver and his passenger were unfortunately certified dead at the scene. Two of the passengers who were transported to the hospital were later released, while the other passenger remains admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.

Constable Ridgewell Rikhotso said that the deceaseds were identified as follows- Silence Mathebula (34), the driver from N’wamakena village, and a 34-year-old teacher at Malenga high school, Forget Mitileni also residing in N’wamakena village.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by the police, added Rikhotso.
