Minister Stella Ndabeni- Abrahams says youth will benefit from upcoming programmes

N’WAMITWA- Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has on Thursday visited N’wamitwa Village, in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality.

In the visit, Minister announced several programmes to be implemented in the municipality. Ndabeni – Abrahams visit to traditional leaders started at the Valoyi Royal House before proceeding to the Karibu Leisure Resort where the main event was held.

In her much-awaited address, Ndabeni-Abrahams announced that Giyani Land of the Blood will return to SABC TV, much to the delight of the audience.

“I hope that we will continue to see the stories and the culture of Va Tsonga showcased on our television screens. This has to go beyond SABC,” Ndabeni-Abrahams said.

She also announced that SITA will revamp the N’wamitwa Post Office and what was announced more by the Minister were the training programmes in digital technologies which include film production, smartphone repairs, and others.

“The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies is mandated to lead the fourth industrial revolution in South Africa and will invest in skills that will help South Africans not to be out of jobs, but to be responsive to the market’s needs and skilled in the digital economy,” said Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams




On top of that, she handed over 20 laptops with broadband connectivity to Xitsavi Youth Centre and certificates to young people who have been trained on smartphone repair and announced that more young people will be trained.

She said the department through NEMISA has a programme to train 15 000 young people on film and TV production in digital storytelling.

The Minister was accompanied by MEC Basikopo Makamu, MEC Thabo Mokone, Executive Mayor Cllr Pule Shayi, Mayor Cllr Maripe Mangena, and senior officials from eleven of the state entities reporting to the ministry of communications and digital communications, these include Usassa, Sentech, SAPO, NEMISA, SITA, Broadband In Franco, and Telkom Shareholding.
