Milley N’wa-Khalanga Bvuma, known to her parents as Mildret Bvuma, was born and raised in the dusty streets of Xihoko village under the Nyavana Traditional Authority outside Tzaneen.

Milley started singing at a very young age in the Xihoko Emmanuel Assemblies of God church choir. She then went on to sing in the choirs at Mdingazi Junior Secondary and Gwambeni High School.
Milley grew up listening to a wide variety of music and was inspired by artists such as Steve Kekana, Mparanyana, The New Jersey Mass Choir, Benjamin Dube, Vuyo Mokoena, Yvonne Chakachaka, Dr. Thomas Chauke, Matshwa Bermuda, Dr. Colbert Mukwevho, Lucky Dube, Burning Spear and Bob Marley to name but a few.

“Through music I was able to express myself and succeed in many areas of life because it motivated me and spoke to my spirit,” says Milley N’wa-Khalanga Bvuma.
In 2023, Milley N’wa-Khalanga Bvuma released an album that was well received by the general public, radio and social media platforms. The album’s title track, “Victory Belongs To God”, was a huge success and became a trend on Facebook and TikTok, among others.

“I am currently working on my second album, which will be released soon. The project is a mixture of Xitsonga Love Songs, expect fireworks. I hope people will love it.” Says Milley.
The Xihoko Village Jewel has worked with Jay Maluks on his project ‘Ahivahlayiseni’ and another one titled ‘Miyela kurila’ featuring Nikki.

“It’s really very difficult to juggle between my professional work and music as time is short. Music takes time and patience, but I still have to do it because it’s my passion.
“My goal is to reach many people over the next few years because I believe the world can be healed through music, spreading words of encouragement, gospel, hope and love.
