GHANAIAN MAN ARRESTED FOR SCAMMING A LIMPOPO TEACHER R1.8M

Ghanaiam man, Mr Mohoto Mangwejana (33) appeared in the Praktizeer Magistrate Court outside Burgersfort on 06 December 2024, facing charges of theft and fraud related to dating scam.




According to Limpopo Hawks spokesperson, Lethunya Mmuroa, In January 2023, the victim (Ex teacher) met the Ghanaian national at in Burgersfort.

Spokesperson, Lethunya Mmuroa says that in August 2023, the Ghanaian contacted the victim and then they started dating.

Lethunya Mmuroa says that in October 2023, the Ghanaian proposed that they should have their own business.



He says that he told the victim that he had found two trucks that are needed for such business, and they cost R3 000 000.00.

They went to the bank in Phalaborwa, where the victim transferred an amount of R1 800 000.00 to a certain account number. She went home and waited for the trucks to be delivered. He tried to contact her Ghanaian boyfriend, and the phone was never answered. She tried to locate him unfortunately he was nowhere to be found”, He said.




She said to have reported the matter to the police. A case docket of theft was opened and transferred to the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit for further investigations.
