Sergeant Glenda Mathebula Of Tzaneen Wins Mopani’s Employee Of The Year Award

Sergeant Glenda Mathebula of Tzaneen’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit has been named Mopani’s employee of the year during the 2024 prestigious SAPS Excellence Awards.




The woman in blue is Mopani’s employee of the year in her department. She received the award at Shidila Lodge in Kgapane Bolobedu on Thursday, October 24.

Sergeant Mathebula is a multi-award-winning police officer known for putting sexual offenders and rapists behind bars in the region.

Last year, Sergeant Glenda Mathebula was named the best investigator in the province. The annual event acknowledges staff members including ranking police officers, cleaners, data capturers, finance department officials and administration personnel.



The Tzaneen Crime Intelligence team also won an award, while Daniela Swart came third in the administration category.

Mavis Ngobeni won the best employee of the year as a cleaner in the FCS admin section. “I would like to thank my principals for acknowledging me, their encouragement has been invaluable,” she said.

The winners received a trophy and certificates from Mopani district commander, Maj Gen Willy Mashava. The awards start at district level and progress to provincial and ultimately to national level.




Other winners included Hannah Mokoena and Mapula Makgoba from Hoedspruit Police Station as the best admin team of the year (levels 1 to 4).

Mashava congratulated the winners and also applauded his predecessor, Maj Gen Maggie Mathebula.

“Your legacy of excellence inspired us. Thank you for being here and we are privileged to have a true icon in law enforcement,” Mashava concluded the awards ceremony.
