Cate Ntimbani: A Visionary Leader In Community Services From Mavele Village

Cate Ntimbani joined the Greater Tzaneen Municipality in August 2023 as the Director of the Community Services Department.

Born in the early 80s in the dusty streets of Mavele Village, Cate is a married mother of three —two boys and a girl. Before her current role, she served as the Director for Community Services at the Mopani District Municipality.

Cate matriculated in 1999 at Vasasele Secondary School, now known as Sevengwani Secondary School. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health from Tshwane University of Technology and an Honours Degree in Environmental Management from UNISA. She further advanced her education with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Johannesburg.

Throughout her career, Cate has accumulated various certificates in fields such as Project Management, Municipal Finance Management Program (MFMP), and Disaster Management.

As a Chief Environmental Health Practitioner in Gauteng, Cate led a highly successful listeriosis outbreak awareness campaign, gaining recognition from media outlets like Gauteng TV and Krugersdorp News, where she was invited to address the Gauteng community on the issue.

Her dedication to excellence was recognized in 2019 when she was awarded the Best Performing Chief Environmental Health Practitioner of the Year by the West Rand District Municipality. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cate led the Mopani District team to earn a provincial award for the best-performing district in COVID-19 vaccination efforts.

Cate is known for her humility and firm decision-making, always maintaining strict professionalism. “I am a researcher by nature and always create a space for the team to be productive, creative, and innovative. My previous workplaces can attest to my punctuality, respect for deadlines, and commitment to being respectful, professional, focused, productive, and efficient,” she reflects.

With her exceptional leadership and passion for community service, Cate Ntimbani continues to make a significant impact in local government, driving change and inspiring those around her.
