The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the torching of the house of the suspect who had been on the run after allegedly killing another local person in a motivate still under investigation.
Modjadjiskloof police under Mopani District have intensified a search for suspects following the torching of a two roomed house of the 27 year old at Ga-Sekgopo village on Sunday 14 July 2024.
According to the information police were informed about a mob who were gathered at the residence of a 27 year-old male suspect, on Sunday 14 July 2024. He is accused of being responsible for the murder of a 31 year-old male victim during a fight last week on Saturday 06 July 2024 at Lehlareng village.
A 27 year-old male suspect was subsequently arrested at Mooifontein farm on Thursday 11 July 2024.
Police had to rush to the vicinity where they rescued an 80 year-old woman together with her 44 year-old daughter and 14 year-old granddaughter who were taken to undisclosed venue for safety , Later it emerged that the mob burned a two roomed house to ashes belonging to the family of a 27 year-old male suspect. A massive manhunt of the suspects has been activated for their apprehension.
“The police have apprehended the suspect in this murder case. I do not understand as to how should we police these communities in that area. I have deployed public order Policing and the Detectives to track down and trace all the individuals who were involved in this senseless torching of the suspect ‘s house.
We cannot allow people to behave in a manner which is unbecoming and like hooligans”. Concluded Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe
