Limpopo Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, Friday, 31 May 2024, visited the families of educators who died in a taxi crash on Tuesday(28 May 2024).
10 educators from Bochum cluster died on their way to work when the taxi they were traveling in collided head-on with a truck.
The educators, taxi driver and 2 other drivers were declared dead on the scene.
The deceased have been identified as:
1. Mpyana a AN Female Kgolouthwana Sec (Bochum East)
2. Mpyana PN Female Ramotshabi Sec (Bochum West)
3. Nkuna MJ Female Radibolotje Primary (Bochum East)
4. Phihlela MR Female Bothanang Primary (Bochum West)
5. Mashabane ML Female Bothanang Primary (Bochum West)
6. Tsiri KA Female Radira Sec (Maleboho Central)
7. Kgakoa CMF Male TP Seakamela Primary (Maleboho East)
8. Semenya KS Female Kgobokanang Prim (Maleboho East)
9. Selepe MD Female Maphetja Prim (Maleboho East)
10. Teffo KJ (Male) Mantotole Primary ( Maleboho East)
The funeral and joint memorial service are planned as follows:

The following fallen heroes in education will be buried on the 8th of June 2024.

A joint memorial service is planned for Thursday, 06 June 2024 at Senwabarwana Stadium.
“I would like to thank the families for welcoming us in their houses, the MEC of Transport and Community Safety, Mme Florence Radzilani, Representatives of Kgoŝi Moloto, led by Dr Matuma Moloto, leadership of SANTANCO in Limpopo, leadership of South African Council of Churches, leadership of our teacher unions, SACE and Assupol for accompanying us during this difficult but necessary journey,” MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya said.
Assupol has contributed an amount of R10,000 to each family, including the family of the Taxi driver, as part of the condolences.
