Judy Sanderson from Nkowankowa Wins Prestigious 2024 Global Brand Prize

It has been reported by our sister Publication, Tzaneen Voice that Nkowankowa born fashion designer Judy Sanderson has been announced as a winner of the prestigious 2024 Global Brand Prize through Fonds de Dotation Maison Mode Méditerranée (MMM) in France.

This award, sponsored by LVMH, Chanel, and other esteemed organizations recognizes exceptional work in cultural heritage preservation and handcrafts through working with artisans in Zimbabwe and Portugal.

Judy Sanderson is a Portuguese-based eponymous women’s ready-to-wear brand founded by South African designer Judy Sanderson, a graduate of the Raffles International College Hong Kong Fashion Design.

Judy draws inspiration from her African roots, the collections celebrate her African heritage and her experiences in Asia and Europe, offering a captivating fusion of diverse cultural influences.

This was the first time that the Global Fashion Brand scholarship called for projects from Africa as a whole, and given the many African crafters and artisans who have inspired and helped bring Judy Sanderson to the forefront of emerging fashion.

The brand is committed to an eco-responsible approach and produces each clothing piece within 45 kilometers of its workshop in northern Portugal.

As a winner of the Global Fashion Brand grant, Judy Sanderson will receive two years of support in all aspects of its development including image, communication, events, and production.
