FOUR SUSPECTS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED CARRYING ILLICIT CIGARETTES WITHIN MODJADJISKLOOF POLICE PRECINCT

Four suspects have been arrested within the Modjadjiskloof police precinct in Politsi after Police received information from an informant who told them about the panel van carrying illicit cigarettes, driven by two African males.

The police said that they followed up with the information and waited at the given address. The vehicle that matched the description arrived at the specified address around 10:00 and was stopped by the police.

The suspects were searched and cigarettes were found with a value of over R1 million, according to the market value provided by the suspect.

“A few moments later, another car came and stopped at the scene where an African male and female offered a bribe to the police so that the suspects and the stock could be released.

Despite being warned not to bribe the police and respecting the oath of office and law, the suspects insisted on bribing the police. Both were taken into custody by SAPS Modjadjiskloof, and case dockets were opened.

The total number of suspects arrested is four, including three African males from Zimbabwe aged between 25 and 44 and one African female from Zimbabwe aged 41.

The suspect will soon appear in court“, said Constable Mabulane .
