TZANEEN POLICE INVESTIGATES A CASE OF ROBBERY WITH A FIREARM AND ATTEMPTED MURDER

The police in Tzaneen are investigating a case of robbery with firearm and attempted murder after an incident that took place today Tuesday 09 January 2024 at about 11:20 where a 31 year old Ayesha store employee of Asian origin drove to FNB Bank Morgan and Agatha streets Tzaneen CBD with a 42 year old Letaba security officer posted at Ayesha stores, they were going to deposit money into the bank.

According to the Tzaneen SAPS communications officer Sergeant Maurice Nkhwashu, it is alleged that the two men were on their way to deposit money into the bank when they were approached by two unknown Afrcam males one armed with a firearm confronted the security officer who was walking towards the FNB Morgan Street entrance, the security officer tried to retreat back into the car but it was too late because the assailants shot him on the stomach and he fell down.

The suspects then took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene with a silver Grey VW Polo car with registration containing numbers FG26 ending with a GP.

The injured security officer posted at Ayesha store was transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital for medical attention.

Nkhwashu says a case of Robbery with a firearm plus attempted murder was opened and Investigation is underway.
