METICULOUS INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF FIREARM

The police have arrested a 30-year-old suspect during a well-coordinated, crime intelligence-driven operation that was conducted in the Namakgale policing precinct on Tuesday afternoon, 19 December 2023.

According to the police reports, the suspect was arrested at about 15:00 following an intense investigation after an armed robbery incident in Majeje Village on November 8, 2023.

A male victim, driving at about 21:00, was allegedly accosted by three suspects walking on foot. The suspects blocked his vehicle, pointed him with a firearm, and robbed him off his firearm, cash, and other belongings.

The members of the multi-disciplinary team traced the suspect to his home in Majeje village. Upon his arrest, police recovered the robbed firearm with two rounds of ammunition.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, hailed the team for their outstanding work. She said the arrest of the suspect should send a strong message to other criminals that they will be hunted down and brought to book.

The arrested suspect will appear before Namakgale Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, December 21, 2023, facing charges of robbery with firearms and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The police appeal to anyone with information about the whereabouts of the remaining suspects can contact Colonel Condry Mathebula on 082 469 1240, the Crime Stop hotline number 08600 10111, or the nearest police station, or share an anonymous tip-off on MySAPSapp.
