A 13 YEAR-OLD GIRL RAPED AT NKOWANKOWA

The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit in Tzaneen has launched manhunt for suspect, who raped a 13-year-old girl, on 29 November 2023 at around 18h00 in Nkowankowa Location, Ritavi policing area under Mopani District.

According to the police reports, the minor child was going to the shop when she met the suspect, who gave her money to buy him a box of matches. When the child returned to give the matches, suspect dragged the victim into his house and allegedly injected her with an unknown needle and raped her. He thereafter, forced the victim to bath and further threatened to kill her.

The victim went home and reported the incident to her mother. She immediately took her daughter to local hospital and also alerted the Police about the incident.

A rape case was opened for further investigation.

The Provincial Commissioner SAPS in Limpopo has expressed dismay following the rape ordeal. “Men are supposed to be protectors of women and children. We call upon everyone to accelerate actions towards the fight against the gender-based violence pandemic. We simply cannot allow children to be tormented in this manner. Enough is Enough,” said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.

The Provincial Commissioner has directed the FCS unit to leave no stone unturned to apprehend the suspect.
