A 26 YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR ABSCONDING BAIL, KIDNAPPING AND MURDER IN MAAKE

NABANE VILLAGE: The Police in Maake have nabbed a 26-year-old male fugitive, Edward Sassa Mankgela on Tuesday 24 October 2023 for absconding bail , kidnapping as well as murder cases.

The members of Mopani District Tracking Team in conjunction with members of SAPS Maake Visible Policing have on Tuesday, 24 October 2023 operationalized an intelligence gathered about the possible whereabouts of Edward Mankgela, a suspect of kidnapping and murder cases who had also absconded bail for a murder case that occurred in 2019, resulting in a warrant of arrest issued against him.

It is reported that Edward has been linked to a kidnapping and murder cases of Mr Raophala through forensic investigations following an incident that occurred on Saturday, 20 May 2023.

According to the information, the victim was kidnapped from his place of residence at Nabane village by unknown suspects. It is reported that the victim’s motor vehicle, a white Isuzu was later recovered few kilometers away from where he was kidnapped and later after two months, a decomposed body of the victim was discovered in the field.

The accused is expected to appear before Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 26 October 2023 for violating bail conditions and facing charges of kidnapping as well as murder.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the collaborative efforts by Teams involved that led to the recapturing of the fugitive.

Police investigations are still continuing at this stage.
