A 34 YEAR-OLD MAN ARRESTED IN MAHWELERENG FOR ALLEGED MURDER OF HIS GIRLFRIEND

MAHWELERENG: A 34 year-old male suspect was apprehended by the members of the Mokopane Crime Intelligence and Mahwelereng Detectives on Monday 23 October 2023 for an alleged murder of his girlfriend this month on October 2023 at Cradock policing precinct in the Eastern Cape province.

The suspect was nabbed during a tactical driven operation that was executed in Mahwelereng policing area under Waterberg District.

According to the statement received from the police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the suspect brutally assaulted his girlfriend after a heated argument in Cradock and later fled the province to evade an arrest. The victim was allegedly admitted at a hospital but later succumbed to her severe injuries sustained during the incident.

Police received information about the suspect who was located at Mapela, Sundsloot village and immediately operationalized on it. They managed to locate the suspect who was found at his parental residence and nabbed him for the alleged murder of his girlfriend.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Cradock Magistrate court soon facing charges of a murder.

The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe appreciated the arrest made by the police after the suspect fled from the Eastern Cape province after committing this barbaric act.

I can assure you that this province is not a hideout for criminals and the police will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that acts of criminality are dealt with decisively, without any fear or favour,” said Lt Gen Hadebe.

Police investigations are continuing.
