Miss South Africa 2022, Ndavi Nokeri, donated sanitary pads to the girls in her village.
Almost 300 girls benefitted from her visit to Gavaza recently. 243 learners from Phangasasa High School and 40 Grade 7 learners from Gavaza Primary School received two packs of sanitary pads each.
The learners also received career guidance and were made aware of endometriosis and received advice from Ndavi on life. The donation was a partnership between NPC Women of Dominance, an organisation that aims to assist women with sanitary hygiene and mental health.
The founder of the organisation is Ndavi’s sister-in-law, Nkateko Nokeri. During Ndavi’s homecoming event last year after she was crowned Miss South Africa, Nkateko and her foundation promised to support Miss South Africa by supplying sanitary pads during Ndavi’s school visits in the Tzaneen area.
Nkateko told the Herald that their aim is to provide pads on a monthly basis to the learners so that they never miss a day at school because of a lack of money to buy pads. Anyone interested in sponsoring the project can contact Nkateko Nokeri at 078 158 0690.
