McDonald Tzaneen To Open Doors On Friday

Tzaneen has been abuzz on when the new McDonald’s franchise adjacent to the R71 and Sasol Garage will open its doors.

According to Willemien Roettgers, a local businesswoman and developer, the long wait for the Big Mac and Happy Meal are finally over as the franchise will start operating on Friday, July 15. The franchise is part of a multi-million Rand commercial development that is planned on the same premises.

Roettgers told the Herald that a total of nine business stands have been laid out for development on the premises next to the Sasol garage. “We are done with the construction of McDonald’s, which will be followed by a drive-through in phase 2 of the development.” She told the Herald earlier this year that the erven between Sasol and the river has been sold to a consortium of doctors who are looking to complete a medical centre within this year still.

She said the other erven in the development belongs to the developers of Total and KFC which will also be developed in the near future. A large network of services had to be upgraded to enable the road that will service the development. “This included securing of the river banks, building a bridge, filling of soil, upgrading of stormwater and then the construction of the road,” Roettgers told the Herald in February this year.
