Nine (9) Matric Students expelled from Lwandlamuni High School

Nine (9) Matric Students have been expelled at Lwandlamuni under Valoyi Traditional Authority (N’wamitwa) outside Tzaneen in the Mopani District. According to our source, the students were expelled after missing out on Saturday 14th August 2021 class.

The students say after the students have missed the Saturday class, the school Principal, Mr Ishmael Risiva allegedly expelled them and he forced them to pay R100 per student which would amount to R900 for all.

One of the students, name withheld because of fear of being victimized says they are forced to pay and take extra lessons. Most of these students are coming from disadvantaged background and they don’t afford. When they are expelled from school, it affects their progress in their studies since they are currently preparing for exams.

The students say school Principal told them the money is to be used to pay teachers who are sacrificing and teaching kids on Saturdays. School Principal allegedly told them not to come back to school, while this issue is happening for the first time.

They are pleading for assistance from community members of N’wamitwa together with the Department of Education since they are facing exams. Our effort to get hold of Mr Ishmael Risiva drew blank.
