The angelic voice of Nomonde Rodger from Nkambako is a blessing to N’wamitwa

Nomonde Mafumu is a 27-year-old artist born and bred from the dusty streets of Nkambako Village under N’wamitwa Traditional Authority outside Tzaneen.

Nomonde Rodger, as she is popularly known within the music circles started using her angelic voice at an early age of three.

Here is how she has started her music journey: “I grabbed every opportunity to use my voice, especially singing in church. My mom used to tell me that whenever people were quiet in church, I would start to sing.”

At the age of 21, she fulfilled her dream of releasing an album with the title of Dream.

“It is an R&B album which got a lot of playtime on radio as well as interviews on Thobela FM, Capricorn FM, Energy FM, Sekgosese FM and GTFM,” said Nomonde Rodger.

Her fan base further grew when she was featured by Cool B in a song called Satisfied. This drew the attention of a producer at Nghalas Records.

“There I got to work with Tebza the DJ and released a song called Julieta which is played on Trace Africa and Channel O.”

This again got the attention of Mr Post, one of the biggest Xitsonga Traditional artists and they worked together to release a masterpiece called Madlokonya.

Nomonde Rodger has recently released her single featuring Tsonga Prince – Henny C. The song is filled with African elements and the Mozambique vibe. It is receiving airplay on several South African Radio Stations including Giyani Community Radio and Munghana Lonene FM just to mention a few.

The song is about fighting gender-based violence and was well received by audiences thus far. The video for Mavavani will also be released soon.
