Police investigate a case of culpable homicide





The South African Police Service in Phalaborwa are investigating a case of Culpable homicide following the horrific accident that claimed two lives.

It is alleged that on Sunday 25 October 2020 at about 05H40, two motor vehicles, a VW Polo and a Minibus (Taxi) were travelling in opposite directions when they collided head on along the R71 road between Phalaborwa and Namakgale.




The VW Polo was having five(05) occupants including a driver while the minibus was having two (02) occupants including a driver.

The impact of the accident was of a serious nature and it claimed a life of the driver and a passenger in a VW Polo leaving the 3 passengers with serious injuries. The two occupants in the minibus also sustained serious injuries after their taxi caught fire and started burning in flames.




The process of identifying the deceased is underway. The cause of this accident is not clear at this stage however, the ongoing police investigations will tell.
