Learners across all grades in Limpopo are set to return to school





The Limpopo Department of Education are going to be phasing in other grades in accordance with amended directions published within the Government Gazette No. 43510, by the Minister of Basic Education on 7 July 2020.

The phased return of the remaining learners within the province are as follows:

20 July 2020:
-Grades 3 and 10
-Schools of Skill: Year 3
-Schools for learners with severe intellectual disabilities: Grade R, Grade 3 and final year (Occupational)
-Schools with learners with severe and profound intellectual disabilities: Year 3
-Schools with autistic learners: final year (18 years and above)




27 July 2020:
-Grades 1 and a couple of -School of skill: Year 2
-Schools for learners with severe intellectual disabilities: Grades 1 and a couple of
-Schools with learners with severe and profound intellectual disabilities: Years 1 and 2
-Schools with autistic learners: junior group (below 13 years)

29 July 2020:
-Grade R

17 August 2020:
-Grades 4 and 9
-Year 1 in schools of skill
-Schools with autistic learners: Senior group (13 years and above)

31 August 2020:
-Grades 5 and eight
-Schools for learners with severe intellectual disabilities: Grades 4 and 5




According to the Department, school management teams are directed to create sure that each one learners receive orientation on the COVID-19 pandemic, in order that they’ll befits all required measures to combat and stop the spread.

“We are encouraged by the positive reports we’ve received with regards to the phasing in of Grade 6 and 11 learners. i’m confident that working with our communities, parents and each other strategic stakeholders, we are going to be ready to make sure that learners are safe when in school and when reception,” said MEC Polly Boshielo.




Schools that have applied for deviation and granted to introduce certain grades not in line with the Minister’s published directions, won’t be stricken by this schedule of dates.
