A 29-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR RAPING A MINOR

The Police in Northam have nabbed a 29-year-old male suspect for allegedly raping a minor ,15 years old girl on Saturday, 27 January 2024.

It is alleged that a 15-year-old girl was with her boyfriend and another two friends and also a couple on Friday night, 26 January 2024, drinking liquor at a tarven in Northam outside Thabazimbi in Waterberg District.

It is alleged that on the same night Friday 26 January the victim with her friends left the tarven to Northam Block 7 while all of them were drunk and they went to one of the friend’s house and slept in the same room th, four of them one couple on the bed and the victim with her boyfriend on the floor.

Allegedly the boyfriend of the victim woke up early in the morning and left her asleep.The victim alleged that she was surprised in the morning on Saturday 27 January 2024 at around 05:00 to find a another man slept with her while he was naked and she was also naked and felt like she has just had sexual intercourse without consent as she was drunk.

A case of rape was reported at Northam Police Station and was later transferred to Thabazimbi Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit for investigations and the suspect traced and arrested on the same day Saturday 27 January.

On a separate incident, it is reported that a 03-year-old girl was allegedly raped by unknown suspect at Gabaza village outside Tzaneen in Mopani District.

It is reported that the complainant alleged that on Friday 26 January 2024 at around between 18:00 and 19:00 when she left the victim home alone and when she came back to bath her surprisingly the victim complained about some pains on her genitals. It is alleged that when the complainant checked from the victim’s genitals she saw blood stains and some fluid like substance.

It is reported that the victim was taken to the nearby hospital for medical examination, and the results came positive that there was penetration.

The case was reported at Maake Police Station and transferred to Tzaneen Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit for further investigations.

The Police in Tzaneen FCS have launched a manhunt for an unknown male suspect of rape. Anyone with information that can assist in apprehension of the suspect should contact the investigating Officer Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Mahlane at 082 469 2625 or report to the SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111 alternatively report to the nearest Police Station and can share it anonymously on MySAPSApp.

Parents and guardians are continuously urged to take extra care for their children to curb the scourge of sexual related offences especially against the children,” concluded Major General Jan Scheepers.

The suspect is expected to appear before Northam Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 2024.
