Floyd Nkuna From N’wamitwa Invented A Cooler Box Speaker

Floyd Nkuna (17), born and bred in the dusty streets of Rwanda Village under N’wamitwa Traditional Authority has invented a cooler-box speaker.

The Grade 11 student at Meridian College has always dreamed of becoming an Electrical Engineer. Then after he was involved in an accident in 2008, he was left immobile, and his world abruptly changed.

I wanted to be an electrical engineer until I was in a vehicle accident in 2008, but after that, I had to modify my future career,” says Nkuna.

The handicapped man eventually discovered a greater meaning in life and understood that his impairment didn’t have to prevent him from showcasing his skills and inventiveness.

Nkuna further explained that he could have let his condition define him for the rest of his life, or he could have persisted in his struggle. Since there was only ever going to be one outcome, he dedicated himself to science inventory. His love for science and technology got him fixing gadgets as well.

Nkuna created the cooler box speaker in 2022, spending the R2000 he had saved from his school lunch pocket money.

He created the cooler box with the assistance and support of his mother, and his friends Xolani Khumalo, Shaun Mpenyani, Mbhalati Mintirho Mbhalati and Thawuza Nkuna.

The young man says he wants to pursue a career in IT and Networking after receiving his senior certificate because he envisions himself as an inventor who will create robots, stereo systems, and music producers in the future.

Nkuna pleads for sponsorship to help him with his endeavour by providing any materials or funding.
