Berlina Lekgethwane Eyeing Mrs SA Crown After Missing Two Miss Teen Auditions

Berlina Lekgethwane, born in Ramokokastad, a rural town in the North West. The North West based Berlina (35) is eyeing the Mrs SA Crown after missing out on two auditions of Miss Teen South Africa as a teenager.

South African beauty pageant Mrs SA, is aimed at giving opportunities to legally married women in South Africa, between the ages of 25 and 55.

Berlina is a mother of two, mentor, wife, Communication Manager at Moses Kotane Local Municipality, and an entrepreneur at heart as she describes herself.

The Mrs SA semi-finalist says that it was in November 2022 when she was busy studying at night when a thought about beauty pageants crossed her mind, little did she know that she would be a semi-finalist by now.

Lekgethwane confirmed that she’s been a fan of pageants from a very young age, and missed out on two Miss Teen SA opportunities.

“I would travel to auditions accompanied by my uncle, Hendric Moatshe to Emprose Palace using taxis, only to arrive late because we were using taxis,” she said.

Mrs Berlina Lekgethwane has admitted that this is the biggest stage for her, but insisted she is ready for it, citing that she has never had an opportunity to enter formal pageants before.

On the 7th of July 2023, about eighty (80) semi-finalists will showcase their talent at Emprose Palace, and thirty (30) will make the cut to the finals.

She said after her uncle find out that she has successfully entered Mrs SA, he jokingly asked her why didn’t she ask him to accompany her this time around.

Berlina Lekgethwane is currently hard at work pushing her brand in order to bring the title to the Platinum Province of North West. She currently mentors 4th-year Indigenous Knowledge System students from the North-West University at the Mahikeng Campus.

I am representing the reality of a young boy, girl, and women in the rural areas, to show them that it is possible despite your background,” said Lekgethwane.

Berlina also added that entering the competition has been a challenge itself, as one has to fear being criticised.

She says her inner go-getter spirit is pushing her into believing that she can go all the way to bring it home.
