South Africans react to the multi-language actors on Giyani: land of blood





The first Xitsonga drama series Giyani: land of blood is back on our TV screens with a diversity of all Limpopo languages, and this turned some Xitsonga native speakers upside down.

The Telenovela’s Second Season was aired on the 1st of November 2021 at SABC 2 at 21:30.

Various online news platforms took to social media to acquire the viewers’ experiences on the first episode of Giyani: land of blood.




Some mixed reactions emerged as some of Xitsonga’s native speakers commented negatively. This was because they were not expecting to hear any other ascent of languages apart from Xitsonga.

“The first episode was so boring. Why are they accommodating other languages in the series yet in other stories Xitsonga is always excluded?,” an anonymous said on the comment column.

However, some rubbished the argument by advising South Africans to get rid of the tribalism mentality.




SABC is all about business

An implementation of multi-language actors could attract a diversity of viewership and thereby grow Giyani: land of blood’s audience.

In addition, qualifications are considered when hiring actors therefore, we believe that all actors at Giyani: land of blood deserves to be part of the Drama Series as they have all prerequisites to act, aspire and grow business.

Giyani: land of blood is a telenovela, drama series created by Tshedza pictures. The amazing series is created by Phathutshedzo Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon.




It will be continuously be aired on SABC 2 at 21h30 from Monday to Wednesday
