Joppie Village born Nyeleti Mabunda making it big in the Eastern Cape

Nyeleti Mabunda, born in the dusty streets of Joppie Village and raised in Soweto, a woman with greater passion for helping kids to read and collect books. She is the founding member of Akani Rixaka; translated as “Build The Nation”, a Non-Profit organisation. The aim of the Organization is to establish a learning centre which will engage children as well as the youth in disadvantaged communities in independent and interdependent learning activities such as book sessions, library round competitions, Computer Literacy classes etc.




Reading always has a huge impact in the development of human beings and studies have shown that almost everyone who reads for pleasure is likely to succeed in life. Akani Rixaka provides a platform for every child to develop a strong intellectual and social wellness and be the best version of themselves.

On the 10th of October 2019, Nyeleti Mabunda’s Akani Rixaka in collaboration with Youth of Tsomo visited a place called Cofimvaba in the Eastern Cape on a project to deliver Books and Sanitary towels (among others) to Zwelivumile Secondary School.




Nyeleti Mabunda (Akani Rixaka), Ncedisa Nontombana (Youth of Tsomo) and Sinethemba Sikati (Sinethemba Foundation) delivered hope on the faces of Zwelivumile Secondary School learners. Sinethemba Foundation will be registering the Grade 12 top achiever in the University of their choice in 2020, Youth of Tsomo donated a box of Sanitary towels and Akani Rixaka donated over 100 books on the event day.

The objective of her Organization (Akani Rixaka) is to:
• Provide a platform for gathering information for the community, Promote the culture of reading;
• Inspire the passion for books in young minds;
• Teach the fundamentals & dynamics of entrepreneurship;
• Promote the spirit of winning;
• Bring together people to strengthen communities.
