When we were celebrating the release of our first black President (Madiba) in the early 90s, a woman with vision was born. Phefulani Ngomane, a 28 years old extra-ordinary individual who is the founder of L & P Computer Academy that is situated at Power Memorial Academy (Mavele village), under N’wamitwa Traditional Authority.
It all started as a passion that was accompanied by a business mind. In 2010, Phefulani Ngomane was working for Avuxeni Computer Academy as a Facilitator. After serving the Academy with excellence for few years; she then realized that there are lot of people who were also part of the company for so many years but don’t have anything portable to show for their hard work. A dream of becoming her own boss kicked in while she was on a weekend outing with friends at African Calabash. She then realized that there was a need for change in her life, and that is when she decided to register her own company, reason being that she wanted to be an example to our black communities that everyone is able when they believe in the beauty of their dreams.
Miss Ngomane’s wish from childhood was to become her own boss and not for fame and money, but to help the world around her since we all know about struggles of the countryside. She set her mind to it and believed in herself; all is history today. From her first pay at Avuxeni Computer Academy, Phefulani has been saving a lot for her dream Academy.
In 2017 she decided to quit her job and pursued her own dreams; then she started looking for investors, however; this was not an easy journey at all. With the much effort she had put into the L & P Computer Academy idea, she managed to convince investors who bought to the idea but along the way they decided to pull out. Even when chips were down, Phefulani didn’t give up; she continued to hold on and hanged in there until her breakthrough finally came. She went on with the idea because she had faith; she believed that she will succeed in everything she puts her hands on.
This phenomenal young business woman managed to open three more branches around the Greater Tzaneen Municipality. Her aim was to bring development in our black communities and help those who come from the disadvantaged backgrounds and can’t afford going to town for computer lessons on daily basis. This academy has already helped a lot of students at N’wamitwa in terms of employment and bringing people together through education.
In December 2019, Phefulani Ngomane partnered with Bra Gibbz Foundation, Victorious Attitudes and Victorious Marathon to offer Bursaries at the Academy. She went on to say that the Bursaries were awarded to those who have passed their matric but couldn’t afford costs to further their education at Higher Institutions but want to compete favourably with their peers globally. Today, L & P Computer Academy dishes out computer skills needed to become a better a person in life and prepares for workplace readiness.
L & P Computer Academy’s vision is to develop capacity not only for themselves, but also for their fellow citizens because they need computer skills to grow, benefit from it as a profession and be competitive in the workplace. Their mission is to create jobs and fight the rate of unemployment around N’wamitwa Traditional Authority Communities and the surrounding areas.
So far, the academy has surpassed their expectations when it comes to quality management. Miss P concluded by saying that they have done very well for the past few years and they are very strong in the industry. Black child, failure is not an option; it is evident that there is passion in all things that she is doing. Without passion, no Entrepreneur can do much.
